The Queen was born at 2:40 am on 21 April 1926 at 17 Bruton Street in Mayfair, London. She was the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. At the time she stood third in line of succession to the throne after Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII), and her father, The Duke of York. But it was not expected that her father would become King, or that she would become Queen.
On Wednesday, 6 February 1952, Princess Elizabeth received the news of her father's death and her own accession to the throne, while staying in a remote part of Kenya. The tour had to be abandoned, and the young Princess flew back to Britain as Queen. She was greeted by Prime Minister Winston Churchill at the airport. The Coronation took place in Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953. When Her Majesty acceded to the throne aged just 25, her life changed overnight from that of a young naval wife and mother to a busy Head of State. She was to become known for her sense of duty and her devotion to a life of service and was an important figurehead for the UK and the Commonwealth during times of both crisis and celebration.
The Queen ruled for longer than any other Monarch in British history, becoming an adored and respected figure across the globe. Over 70 years, Her Majesty was a dedicated Head of the Commonwealth, linking more than two billion people worldwide. Our much loved queen died peacefully at Balmoral 8 September 2022. We at Steiff are extremely proud to present a splendorous and majestic Teddy bear symbolizing an extraordinary part of our history and pay tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.
Her paw pads are delicately embroidered in gold thread with 1926 – 2022 and the royal cypher EIIR. She wears the most dazzling and beauteous crown enhanced further by her Garter Star, The Order of King George V and The Order of King George VI. Only 214 “Queen Elizabeth II Memorial” bears will be made magnifying her greatness even further. She will be complete with a special presentation box.
